Custom Web Applications for Businesses in Ireland
When a process has outgrown shared spreadsheets, email threads and an off-the-shelf tool that almost fits, a purpose-built web application can hold the data, enforce the steps and show each person only what they need.
Appeonix Creative Lab builds these applications for Irish companies from our team in India. We do not have an office in Ireland. This page sets out what we build and how we handle personal data under the GDPR, plus who owns the code when the project ends.
Tell us about the process you want to replace
Describe how the work is done today, who is involved and which tools you use. We will reply with questions and a suggested first step.
Web applications Irish teams commission from us
Most requests fall into one of four shapes. Many real projects mix two of them.
Client portals
A secure login where your customers upload documents, follow the status of their job, download reports or raise queries, so they stop asking for updates by email.
Booking and scheduling tools
Appointments, rooms, equipment or field visits, with availability rules, confirmation messages and an admin view for whoever manages the diary.
Internal workflow applications
Approvals, job tracking, stock movements or inspections, with each step assigned to a role and a record of who did what and when.
Spreadsheet replacements
A database-backed application that takes over the logic buried in a workbook several people edit, removing version conflicts and copy-paste errors.
How an Irish web application project runs, from discovery to support
Each stage ends with something you can review before the next one starts.
Discovery calls
We walk through the current process with the people who do the work, list the roles involved and note what personal data the application will hold.
Written scope and screen plan
A document describing each feature, user role and screen, with open questions marked. You approve it before any estimate is fixed.
Design and prototype
Clickable wireframes for the main journeys, so staff can try the flow before anything is coded.
Build in short stages
Features are delivered to a staging site you can log in to, usually in small batches, with notes on what changed and what to test.
Testing and launch
Functional testing, role and permission checks, and a launch checklist covering backups, error logging and the hosting region.
Support afterwards
Fixes, security updates and new features under a separate support arrangement, or a handover to your own developers.
Technology choices for an application built for Ireland
We recommend a stack based on the project's needs and on who will maintain it later, not on fashion.
| Layer | What we use | When it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Back end | Laravel/PHP or Node.js | Laravel suits form-heavy business tools with complex rules; Node.js suits real-time features and API-first designs |
| Front end | React or Next.js | React for dashboards and interactive screens; Next.js where some pages are public and need to load quickly or be indexed |
| Database | MySQL | Structured business records, reporting and audit trails |
| Hosting | AWS, Azure or DigitalOcean | Any of the three, in your own account, with an EU region chosen so data is stored inside the European Union |
GDPR by design for applications holding Irish personal data
If your application stores data about customers, staff or patients, you are the controller and we act as your processor while we build and support it. We design for that from the first discovery call rather than adding it before launch.
Collect only what the process needs
For every field on every form we ask why it is needed and how long it should be kept. Data that serves no purpose is left out, and retention periods can be built in so old records are deleted or anonymised automatically.
Access by role, not by default
Each role sees only the records and actions it needs. Administrative actions are logged, and staff accounts can be disabled without deleting the history they created.
A processor agreement under Article 28
Article 28 of the GDPR requires a written contract between controller and processor. Ours covers the subject matter and duration of processing, the types of data, acting only on your documented instructions, confidentiality, security measures, use of sub-processors such as the hosting provider, and returning or deleting data when the work ends.
Access from outside the EU
Because our team works from India, and India does not currently have an EU adequacy decision, any access to live personal data from India needs a transfer mechanism such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. Where possible we work with anonymised or test data, so live data stays in your EU-hosted environment.
European Accessibility Act duties for consumer-facing Irish apps
Ireland gave effect to the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) through the European Union (Accessibility Requirements of Products and Services) Regulations 2023, S.I. No. 636 of 2023, which apply from 28 June 2025. They cover certain services offered to consumers, including e-commerce services. An internal workflow tool used only by your staff usually falls outside them. A public booking or ordering application may fall inside them.
Microenterprises providing services are exempt from the service requirements. Larger businesses should get advice on whether the Regulations apply. Whatever the legal position, we build public screens to work with a keyboard and screen readers, with proper form labels, visible focus and enough colour contrast, so you can extend accessibility later without a rebuild.
Code ownership and intellectual property terms for Irish clients
What you receive
- Ownership of the custom code written for your application once the agreed fees are paid, as stated in the contract
- The source code in a repository you control, not only on our servers
- Hosting, domain and third-party accounts registered in your company's name
- Setup notes so another developer can deploy and maintain the application
What stays separate
- Open-source frameworks such as Laravel or React, which keep their own licences
- Paid third-party libraries or services, which you license directly
- General know-how that is not specific to your business
- Any ranking, traffic or business-result guarantees, which we do not give
Working with a remote team in India on Irish business hours
India is 4.5 to 5.5 hours ahead of Ireland, depending on Irish summer time. Our afternoon overlaps with your morning. We hold calls then and use the hours before you start work to finish the next batch of changes on the staging site.
Illustrative example: a training provider in the west of Ireland wants to replace a spreadsheet of course bookings. Over several weeks, staff review new screens each morning and post comments by lunchtime. Corrections are usually ready on staging the next morning. This is an illustrative scenario, not a client project.
Who builds and supports your application
Your application will be built by Appeonix Creative Lab, which has worked since 2014 and is registered in India as a Udyam micro enterprise (UDYAM-KL-13-0116371). Our offices are in Thrissur, Kerala and Indiranagar, Bengaluru. We also hold an Ontario business name registration. We have no office or staff in Ireland, and all development is done by our team in India. Hourly and monthly rates are on our published rate card.

Questions Irish businesses ask about bespoke web applications
Can our application data stay in the EU if your developers are in India?
Yes. The application and its database can be hosted in an EU region of AWS, Azure or DigitalOcean, under your own account. Our developers work on staging copies with test or anonymised data wherever possible. If live access is needed for support, it is covered by the processor agreement and an appropriate transfer mechanism.
Will you sign our own data processing agreement instead of yours?
Usually, yes. Many Irish companies have a standard processor agreement from their solicitor. We review it and agree any changes before work starts, so both sides know who does what if there is a data breach or an access request.
How do you estimate the cost of a custom application?
After discovery we write a scope document and estimate the effort for each feature against our published rate card. Smaller first releases keep the initial cost down. Features that can wait are listed separately so you can decide on them later.
Can our in-house developer take over the code later?
Yes. The code sits in your repository, follows the usual conventions of Laravel, Node.js or React, and comes with setup and deployment notes. We can also hold handover sessions during Irish working hours.
Does a staff-only internal tool need to meet accessibility rules?
The European Accessibility Act focuses on services offered to consumers, so a staff-only tool is usually outside it. Employment equality duties still apply to staff, so we follow the same accessible design practices for internal screens.
